Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s hoop or basket. The game is played on a rectangular court with a hoop elevated at a height of 10 feet. Points can be scored in various ways: a field goal (a basket made from anywhere on the court) is worth two points, or three points if shot from beyond the three-point line; free throws, awarded after certain fouls, are worth one point each. The game is played in four quarters, and the team with the most points at the end wins. Basketball emphasizes skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense. It is governed by specific rules set by organizations like the NBA (National Basketball Association) and FIBA (International Basketball Federation). Basketball is popular worldwide, with a strong cultural and competitive presence and a significant following in schools, colleges, and professional leagues.
