Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field known as a pitch. The objective of the game is to score goals by moving a ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the arms and hands (goalkeepers are an exception within their designated area). Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

The sport is deeply popular worldwide, often referred to as soccer in some countries, particularly in the United States and Canada, to differentiate it from various codes of football such as American football or Australian rules football. Football matches are played in two halves, typically lasting 45 minutes each, with a half-time interval. The team with the most goals at the end of the match wins.

Football can be played at various levels, from informal street matches to professional leagues and international tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup. It is known for its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and skill, making it one of the most popular sports globally, with millions of fans and players.
