Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically comprising eleven players each, where the objective is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is primarily played with the feet, and players are not allowed to use their hands or arms, except for the goalkeepers, who can use their hands within their penalty area. The sport is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Football is one of the most popular sports globally, enjoyed by millions of fans and players at both amateur and professional levels. It is commonly referred to as “soccer” in some countries, particularly in the United States and Canada, to distinguish it from other forms of football, such as American football or rugby football. Major international competitions, such as the FIFA World Cup, showcase the sport’s global appeal and are watched by large audiences around the world. Football promotes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness, and it plays a significant role in many cultures as a means of entertainment and community engagement.
